Welcome to another issue of the Comics & Cartoons [Almost] Daily Deviations. As part of the Team Sidekicks, I'm posting this journal in behalf of the Comics & Cartoons Moderation team.

The intention of this journals is to show you some of the suggestions that are not picked for x reason but that still deserve to be featured.

Why aren't they selected? There may be various reasons; some of them are because of personal guidelines the moderator has, but the main reason most of these awesome pieces are not selected is because  not all suggestions can be picked, even if we want...  but as you can see, these still deserve to be seen.

"Everything I love is dying."
by: Raveneesimo

This is a great piece of ballpoint pen work, with the stokes going in the right direction, making look like it's in motion,

Suggested by: YukiMizuno

Disney Heroes - Peter Pan
by: davidkawena

Fanart. (please address your fanart suggestions to aunjuli btw! plz! XD) But I had to mention the work of this deviant, even tho I know it's quite known, but you gotta check David's work if you haven't yet.

Suggested by purpleida

Grandma
by: l3onnie

I love this Grandma's spunky 'tude and smile, and also especially the feather duster!! Lovely work in colour pencils.

Suggested by: kamizuki

catwoman
by: ayanimeya

Mao!!

Suggested by OneFreeInternet

two stupid things
by: Zookero

This little cartoon strip got a giggle out of me with its randomness!

Suggested by: kamizuki

Weather Forecast
by: byluluka

You gotta love the girl's expression.

Suggested by pryestrela

The Dead
by: FlowComa

The picture engulfs the reader making you truly fear for your life from the hideously detailed zombies. Fantastic composition.

Suggested by: amykins0

by: iMais

A really simple but so cute strip. Teehee indeed.

Suggested by nidhi-rathish

Pledge
by: yoeah

I find the simple gesture depicted here to be full of meaning, devotion, and loyalty. The fact that you cannot see the girl's face allows the audience to imagine her expression ourselves, whether it be tears of happiness, plain joyful, or whatever comes to mind first.

Suggested by: suzaku009

12 wip
by: slapthebully

The work of this deviant is progressing formidably. Overall good composition on the panels, good use of colors and interesting story

Suggested by Thiefoworld

I've been recently accepted into the Team Sidekicks group, - it's a little (but mighty) group headed by :iconmajnouna: and :iconthiefoworld: ,dedicated to promote cartoons & comics and those awesome artists who drew them. I hope to get to know more of you and to unearth more fantastic arts through the team and be a tiny bit of use to dA ;)

as the name suggests, Almost Daily Deviations is compiled by :iconthiefoworld: to feature about deviations that are as good as Daily Deviations, but because of reasons didn't get DD, as Thiefoworld said -

"Why I didn't choose them then? As I said, it's not that they are not good enough, [please erase from your mind that if a GM doesn't select one of your suggestions it's because of that :)] there can be many reasons, being the main one the simple fact that I just cannot select all of them! These are the ones I consider worthy of being featured, those I would have chosen if it wasn't for x reason ;)"

Here's the first instalment of - thiefoworld.deviantart.com/jou…
And the Second! thiefoworld.deviantart.com/jou…

Enjoy reading them and you might want to check out Cedarseed and thiefoworld's DD galleries ;)

"I'm reborn from the ashes, hang on, that's phoenixes ... damn brain"

Anyway! Can't believe the last journal was 2 months back! And I can't believe I haven't done any particular fulfilling thing since then ... After all the commotion from Chinese New Year, I've basically slumped back to my usual routine of wake up, eat, work / play, eat, work / play, eat, work / play, and sleep. Wow, I need to rethink my purpose in life now.

The reason (apart from the usual laziness) for not uploading these past months is probably because I developed a feeling of insignificance in the world. Being in DA this long and seen so many fantastic artists make me realise just how vast the whole world is, and most importantly, how small I am in this world. I mean, there are millions, HUNDREDS of million of artists out there, and my drawing compared to them are NOTHING. And I'm angry with myself for learning so slowly, what I'd give to have a strong will and perseverance so I can improve my art?

Also I did say I'll post pics of scenery in China, but I'm not sure if I can show them in the journal directly? Maybe I'll just post the links later.

Oh c***... late AGAIN!

Sorry for the absense - I'm actually back in China atm to be able to enjoy the Chinese New Year celebrations! Which also meant I went through a hella time trying to reconnect to the rest of the world by tuning to the internet. And only until yesterday was I finally able to connect to the landline... what I would give for the ultra fast wireless network I enjoyed so much in UK...

But anyhoo! Those internet-less days has been filled with a tight schedule of buying gifts, seeings relatives, contacting friends and family (which I missed for years) and overall enjoying the Chinese New Year spirits that's enjoyed in the UK in the form of Christmas (without the presents DX)

And the best of all? FIREWORKS!!! Tons and TONS of them blasted into the sky, every waking hour people sent firecrackers off in their yards, throbbing your eardrum. At night fireworks of all sorts exploded in the air. Whether a single shot that goes "Weeeeeeeeeee!" as it goes up (making you want to use the toilet) or high fireworks that actually need concrete chutes to be sent up that exploded with a force in the air, sending vibrant glitters across the sky, made collages of blooming spring festivity that lifted the hearts of every man, woman and child...

In fact a hotel right in front of where I lived hosted one massive firework display on New Years Eve. Staff prepared several chutes of different sizes on the road. There are small chutes for single, low shots that went with a "BANG!!!" or three feet, concrete chutes that rocketed into the sky and exploded a huge ball of light with a little "pop" (that's how high it went!). The best, in my opinion, were the 20-shot low fireworks. You literally feel they explode right off the top of your head, sending an umbrella of falling glitter. If you stood right below where it exploded, you'll feel you're enclosed in a miniature model of a hemisphere of the universe, as the glitter fell in slow-motion... that experience, is one of the wonders of life 8D

But of course, speaking unbiased, there's also the side effect of blindness, deafness, and death caused by excessive choking of firework chemicals... JOKING! Though it was a bit of a laugh when the remains of a roll of firecrackers caught fire and the hotel staff had to hastily come with a fire extinguisher, as they put out this patch, another patch caught fire, that was good.

What a rant! But it was brilliant, I hope some of you can come to China in the future to see this. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera back then to show you pictures of it. But there's a latern show (did I translate it right?) in a few days time, also with firework displays. I'll show some of those pics in the next journal. In the main time, happy Chinese New Year!

EDIT -

A little question to all the tablet-users out there - how long does it usually get you used to draw on a tablet? I've had mine for weeks now and still can't get the lines where I want them - just some simple lines had me trying over several times to get them right. And when I thought the pic's all good, zoom out, and find the whole pic is all sketchy.

HOW LONG TILL I CAN DRAW ON TABLET AS GOOD AS ON PAPER??!

Merry Christmas all of you talented artists on deviantART!!!

Sorry I couldn't upload something that suits this festive season atm, but I will do something special for New Year or Chinese New Year. Plus, in March I'll be officially been on DA for a whole year! Woohoo!

Still not getting used to the tablet at all, probably the reason I'm not uploading anything... Miss the good old pen and paper, now I rather wish for a good scanner... *sigh* an artist can never have enough to wish for...

Anyhoo, to all of you, enjoy your roast turkeys, exqisit wines and most of all PRESENTS! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
